Wanaka Residence brings the practice’s tradition of connection to the landscape to the inspiring environment of Lake Wanaka in the South Island.
The architecture is inspired by the minimalism of Tadao Ando, in which raw materiality meets the natural setting of Lake Wanaka. With a tranquil interplay of light and shadow, and a balance of refined materials and carefully composed open spaces, the design embodies stillness, precision and an ever-present dialogue with nature.
This project will bring RMA’s specialist expertise in high-performance, high-end residential design to a new setting. Partnering with local consultants and incorporating local materials wherever possible, the practice is pleased to extend its experience on this landmark project in a place defined by its pristine landscape.
