We knew these studios would become more than places to practise yoga. They would define a brand and challenge what was accepted within the industry. Through design, we wanted to establish a new benchmark.
One Hot Yoga Melbourne challenged the conventions of wellness design by bringing the warmth, materiality and refinement of residential architecture into a commercial environment. Behind the modest façade of a 1960s brick building, RMA recognised an opportunity to create something entirely unexpected. Every decision was guided by a simple ambition: to design a studio that felt generous, tactile and thoughtfully resolved. The result established a new aesthetic for yoga studios in Australia, creating an environment that reflected the values of the brand while elevating the experience of every visitor.
The interiors were designed to communicate the philosophy of the brand from the moment visitors arrived. A restrained palette of natural materials, polished concrete, painted brickwork and carefully crafted timber creates an atmosphere of calm. Rather than adopting the language of a commercial reception, the studio welcomes guests with domestic furniture, considered artwork, designer lighting and a solid oak communal table. Every element contributes to an environment that feels familiar, welcoming and deeply considered, encouraging people to slow down before they even begin their practice.
Healthy Design extends beyond the spaces where we live. At One Hot Yoga Melbourne, natural materials, carefully balanced lighting, fresh air and a calm architectural language work together to support physical and emotional wellbeing. The environment encourages focus, relaxation and recovery, demonstrating how thoughtful design can positively influence the way people feel from the moment they arrive.
One Hot Yoga Melbourne challenged established expectations of wellness design and, in doing so, established a new benchmark for the industry. Recognition through leading design awards acknowledged more than the quality of the interiors. It celebrated a philosophy that placed human experience, authenticity and thoughtful design at the centre of every decision, creating a studio that continues to influence wellness environments today.
The things we choose to live with become part of the story of our lives. A favourite chair, a work of art, an object discovered while travelling or something passed from one generation to the next can hold meaning far beyond its function. We believe a home should make space for these things and allow new memories to gather around them. Furniture, art and objects are therefore never simply the finishing touches. They help transform architecture into something deeply personal: a home that could belong to no one else.
