It’s so important for me to have a view well beyond where I live; a view of the world. It’s an essential part of living well.

Occupying the entire upper level of Hampden by RMA, the Penthouse captures an exceptional sense of openness, light and connection to its surroundings. Expansive interiors unfold towards a landscaped rooftop terrace that wraps the residence, framing uninterrupted views across Armadale, the city skyline and Port Phillip Bay. Inside, carefully layered materials, colour and generous spaces allow furniture, art and objects collected over a lifetime to become part of the architecture. The result is a residence that feels uplifting, deeply personal and wonderfully connected to the world beyond its walls.
The kitchen was conceived as the visual anchor of the residence. Rich stone flooring, dark natural finishes and carefully integrated Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances establish a sense of permanence and calm within the open living environment. Rather than competing with the surrounding views, these darker tones provide balance and create a natural gathering place for family and friends.
Every principal room enjoys a connection to the landscape beyond. Panoramic views extend across Armadale to the city skyline and Port Phillip Bay, while the terrace garden creates a living green foreground that softens the architecture and strengthens the relationship between the residence, the seasons and the changing light throughout the day.
Healthy Living has shaped every aspect of the Penthouse. A 7-star energy rating, passive solar design, natural ventilation, double glazing, low-toxicity finishes and intuitive building technology work together to create an environment that supports comfort and wellbeing throughout the seasons. Every decision contributes to healthier indoor air quality, improved sleep, reduced environmental impact and a stronger connection to natural light and landscape.
The Hampden Penthouse reflects the same commitment to thoughtful design that has earned recognition for both the project and the broader practice. Every decision, from the architectural planning through to the carefully resolved interiors and enduring material palette, contributes to a residence of lasting quality. This recognition reflects more than design excellence; it acknowledges a philosophy centred on creating homes that continue to reward their owners long after they are completed.
