The success of this project reflects the trust our clients placed in us. That confidence allowed us to unlock the full potential of a truly remarkable site and work with confidence and assurity.

For more than twenty years, this remarkable parcel of land remained untouched, its future constrained by three magnificent 150-year-old Moreton Bay Fig trees. Rather than seeing these extraordinary trees as an obstacle, RMA recognised them as the defining character of the site. Working closely with specialist arborists, the residence was carefully shaped around their protection, creating a home that celebrates both the landscape and contemporary family living. The result demonstrates how thoughtful design can unlock extraordinary opportunities while preserving the qualities that make a place truly unique.
Exceptional outcomes are rarely the result of design alone. They are achieved through careful planning, trusted relationships and the confidence to move projects forward with clarity. Kambala Residence demonstrates this approach in practice. Working collaboratively with council, neighbours and specialist consultants, RMA secured development approval in less than five months – an outstanding outcome in a location where the process typically extends well beyond a year. Such was our confidence in the quality of the proposal and the strength of the relationships established throughout the approval process, detailed documentation commenced before the formal decision was issued, significantly reducing the overall project programme and allowing construction to begin months earlier.
Creating a residence of this calibre requires more than exceptional design. It demands thoughtful leadership from the earliest conversations through to completion. RMA's integrated approach brings together strategy, architecture, interiors, landscape architecture and project coordination within a single, collaborative process. Every decision is carefully managed, every consultant thoughtfully coordinated and every stage communicated with clarity, giving our clients confidence throughout the journey. This seamless approach protects the original vision while making the experience of creating a remarkable residence as rewarding as the home itself.
Great gardens have a way of making architecture feel as though it has always belonged. At Kambala Residence, three magnificent Moreton Bay Fig trees provided the beginning. Working with William Dangar, the landscape was shaped with sensitivity and quiet elegance around these remarkable trees. Architecture, interiors and landscape gradually become one, allowing the experience of the home to extend naturally into the garden while preserving the presence and character that have defined this land for generations.
The most rewarding homes are created when there is trust to consider everything as part of one idea. At Kambala Residence, RMA designed the architecture and interiors, then worked with the clients to curate the furniture and objects that would ultimately make the residence their home. Their commitment to the process allowed every decision to be considered in relation to the whole. It was a rare alignment of client, architect and vision that together created what RMA considers one of Sydney’s great residences.
